Cherating, The Ugly Side
To be honest, I did not actually feel very good with Cherating.
Perhaps I’ve heard too much about its charm, but I didn’t actually get any surprise when I was there, but just loads of disappointments. My secondary school mates used to suggest coming to Cherating for a relaxed trip, and we were worried that a short weekend trip may not be sufficient.
“It should be a place to stay for at least two nights” - this was what I thought and felt from our previous discussions and conversations.
Some time before, I viewed some photos taken in Cherating by a friend few years ago, as well as some photos posted to the Cari Forum. I was thinking, Cherating should be a nice place to go.
If I were to present only the nice views of Cherating here, that’s not a problem at all. When shooting, definitely we have the choice of capturing only the beautiful scenes. We can even touch up the photos and write positive captions about them.
I know there is no point comparing Cherating with Fraser’s Island, the breathtaking beaches along the Queensland coast, or the Surfer’s Paradise with uncountable headcounts everyday but can still serve its visitors with white, soft and clean sandy beach.
Anyway, I believe that if we put more efforts in keeping the place well or preserving its cleanliness, there is no chance for a previous Cherating visitor to feel the same as me.
Close to Cherating, lies the Chendor Beach and the Teluk Mak Nik Beach. We briefly visited these beaches but did not really get down from the car, because nothing was too amazing.
A dead octopus - more than one was seen on the Cherating beach.
A lot of withered leaves in the sea.
Dying in the sun… the Cranberries has a song titled so.
Is the Cherating beach still immaculate?
Who left one of her high heels here?
There were more drypers/pampers on the beach than the dead octopus.
Sometimes I wonder, if I’ve been too harsh with everything? Is this actually good enough?
Can’t or shouldn’t the unnecessary woods be kept somewhere or taken away?
Does renovation make things better or worse?
