My Happiness This Week

At the end of this week, I could feel that I have been cheering up a little.

Thursday (6/12/2007) night, I was so busy with all photo stuff, till not having any second to go down and meet my housemate. Had to get the farewell lunch photos prepared (photoshoped if necessary, resized, uploaded, caption written, URL distributed) so that everybody could enjoy the images ASAP, as promised.

By the way, I also promised the editor of the magazine which I contribute my travel articles, to sort out the photos and send her by Thursday night.

A simple thing could be hard to embrace, just like happiness.

While doing those tasks, I was feeling perhaps I had no enough time to finish all. Thinking of maybe to tell the editor, I'll be sending her the photos only by next Monday (10/12/2007). However, I was able to accomplish all to-dos before I went to bed at around 12am.

Felt exceptionally content at that moment!

It's a great feeling when you achieve what you previously thought to be impossible. I really like it, love it, addicted to it :)

Over the last week, some people also gave me the elements of happiness.

Happiness 1:

Kun provided me some links to listen to songs online. I knew her since the year 1993. Only recently I found that we are so "homogeneous" and have almost identical taste on a lot of things. Perhaps the similarities started only in recent years, and we were not aware of them.

The songs she shared with me include:

烟火 (光良)
是非题 (范玮琪)
我不想忘记你 (郭静)
AM PM (莫文蔚)
(莫文蔚)
忽然之间 (莫文蔚)

Note: If you are using Mozilla Firefox, you might need to install additional plugins for the songs to play. There should be no problem for Internet Explorer.

Lyrics are available for you to sing together. Nice!

Don't get me wrong with the 3rd song. There is nothing special at all. It's just the title of the song. Definitely not what I have in mind.

Honestly, I truly need some new songs in my life, with no past memory or story.

Happiness 2:

After I started my new job, last Tuesday was the first time I didn't go for badminton with my ex-colleagues. I had prepared myself for it, but... The next day (Wed), Uncle Lim rang me, saying something about the badminton session and suggested that we go for lunch together next Tuesday to eat Pan Mee (it's a public holiday for the birthday of Sultan Selangor - I'm off but they will work).

I had actually planned to date them and go there. Who knows he proposed the same. Great minds think alike eh~~ Then, I worried if the stall is not open for business due to public holiday. Rabbit heard about my worry on Wed night, and confirmed with me in 24 hrs that the stall will be doing business next Tue.

Am delighted having people around who know me so well and act so efficiently. I replied his confirmation with:

u r so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet handsome
beware of ants :)

Still feeling very funny with my reply... till this moment.

Happiness 3:

Leong should have arrived at Sydney by now. He told me he'll be traveling to Sydney for work purpose, and asked me some visa-related questions.

Without more questions from him, I couldn't wait to tell him while being in Sydney, where should he go, what should he do, which seat to take in flight, what kind of train ticket to buy, and all sorts of tips. When people are traveling overseas, I'm always feeling glad although I'm not the one going. Don't ask me why. Perhaps I usually imagine that I'll be hiding in their luggage and travel together.

Many years ago, the Opera House was my only impression of Australia.

Prior to what, when I heard that people plan to go Sydney, I'd said, there's nothing interesting in Sydney, it's just a typical city. If I were you, I'll consider going to Queensland. There are lotsa amazingly breathtaking natural attractions. You will definitely love it.

Who knows, when I tipped Leong, there were like a lot of places to go also. Then only I realized that, Sydney is actually not a worthless place to visit. My previous perception could be caused by the experience of staying there. You surely won't think to travel to where you stay, will you?

Have a nice trip, Leong! Enjoy the summer! Any Tim Tam for me when you get back?

Happiness 4:

Wyng prompted me on messenger early this morning. She's one who affected my path of life quite a lot. I knew her from a Japanese class we attended together in Penang, about 10 years ago (end of 1997). I didn't finish the course due to the need to come back to Sekinchan to start another new year in high school.

Without much reason, we wrote to each other, extensively. She was in local college then Melbourne during my high school time. When I moved to Penang, she came back from Melbourne then started working in Singapore, till now. Nowadays, we no longer write much to each other, and have not met for "uncountable" years.

She sent me lotsa aerogramme from Australia, mostly with layout of the different national parks and about X'mas. She drew a beautiful picture of Australia in my mind, making me finally went there.

However, every time we start chatting on a topic, we don't feel strange with each other. And we can talk about anything! Sometimes I do prefer the certain distance between people, that gives me a sense of security and space for rationality, though quite some people are unbearable with me for being so.

Today, she wants to share with me about her recent experience traveling to Chiang Mai, a place which I'm going in 2 months time. When I heard of her intention to share, I cheekily voiced my "requirements" on what I wish to know, hoping that she covers those in her writing.

haan: i know u ok one, so dare to request :)
haan: so i wait for your experience sharing
wyng: aiya... u & me "kira" apa ley
wyng: betul tak

Felt so touched with the last 2 statements!

Sometimes things are weird. Both are not together but their relationship has no change, whilst some people are together everyday, but they fall apart from each other day by day.

Happiness 5:

On Friday (7/12/2007) morning, Yi asked me to recommend her some blogs that I usually read. I gave her some URLs.

yi: got any nice blogs to recommend?
haan: what kind u want?
yi: like urs lo
yi: i read urs like reading newspaper everyday
(I recommended her some blogs I subscribe)
yi: frankly... they are not as good as urs
(more conversation went on)

Her few sentences are enough to make my day.

A week before, ditto happened between Leong and I. Same starting point, similar recommendations from me, and akin response from him.

Note: I'm not reading lousy blogs, okay? And the recommended blogs were really what I read.

I admit that I do not have very huge readership for this blog, but I know quite some people are quietly reading, following it up, without making any comment and never lemme know. I appreciate all these.

Happiness 6:

My colleagues like the photos I took for them during the farewell lunch. Sometimes I easily get indulged in compliments, although rationally, I know I should not.

Windows are meant to be open. Agree?

Again, I remind myself, in order for the new people to come into my life, first I have to welcome them with open heart. Otherwise, great life will just be faraway, now and forever.

This post has taken me 5-6 hours to write, edit
and get the appropriate photos.
Half of the Saturday is gone!
