No More Burglary Please
Once I got home today, my housemate told me that one nearby house had just been broken in.
The people of the house were tied (but not hurt), and the valuables were taken away (should this word be "robbed"?).
When hearing that, although that did not happen to us, I felt somewhat scary.
(just received and finished a phone call)
Kun just called. She has just come back from Hanoi and is on the way home. When coming back to Malaysia, she was thinking about her car being stolen (without anything special triggering such thought), what's still in her car etc. When she called home, who knows, her car has really gone today. Her brother still saw it last night.
Is this the so-called intuition? Apart from lodging a police report, I'm really not sure what other things we should/can do. How much can be claimed from insurance? I have no idea. I just know that it's very inconvenient for her not having a car, coz she's a journalist.
Back to the original topic. I sincerely wish that, we are not chosen again by any thief. For the burglars out there, please pity us a little. One experience is enough. I do not wish for the second. Please. Here I plead you, wholeheartedly.
When I suddenly recall the incident happened almost 9 months ago (on 21/3/2007), I'm still feeling thrilled. I remember how soon I shed my tears in the office when getting the news, how stunned I was by losing few thousands in one shot, how unwilling I came home by staying out till late night regardless of the tiredness, how hard I fell asleep after I finally came home, how I always heard weird sound and thought, was there actually someone just behind the door?
The feeling was not nice.
I don't like Pepsi. I don't ASK FOR MORE.
Updated on 15/12/2007 FYI:
According to Kun after she went to insurance agent, it may take around 4 months for the insurance thingy to be settled. In the meantime, the car loan still needs to be paid.

any dog with no smell?
Ha! Ha! All dog got smell mah! He! He! Even u got smell mah! A very nice smell I am sure! Have a nice day!
dog without smell never "works well" :)
Those burglars are really getting bolder and bolder this days.
My friend put on those fake CCTV's and alarm box. You'll be surprise how well they work as a deterrent.
i think they act as a deterrent up to certain level.. but still do not guarantee more than 50% security (even the real ones). we planned before but it's still pending till now.. maybe should re-consider :) thanks for reminding..
BTW, the so-called security guards who get $ from us every month are even worse ~~
I got those security guards services. It works but you need to get the better service in which they come and sign on a booklet every hour. Its still not 100% secure but at least I can spot check them from time to time to see that they are doing their job.
am not sure if they sign booklet hourly. u see them around very often riding on motors.. but.. they know nothing even when several houses have got broken into (on the same day) and people have lodged police report.. very effective eh :)
I don't remember when was the last time my house in Vietnam got thieve. They will get beaten up very badly because the area got a group of volunteer guards who are very willing to catch them and ... If they ever get in the 10+ dogs will eat them alive.
How about you learn the Chinese style?
I don't even know if they bother break in the house when all houses have 2 thick metal security doors with 2 dead lock each.
If they want to try the Window, they also have to be very well equipped to break the metal frame. Well, that's if they have the chance to bypass the alarm and touch that window.
OK, let's say they are able to bypass the alarm and break the security entrance, the 2 big blood-hungry dogs inside are ready to chew them off. Well that's if they did somehow stopped them from barking when they got 5m close to the house.
That's that a glance of security.
I myself got armed robbed in Marrickville Sydney. That night 4 of them broke in with swords and gun, covered face. They beated me and my house mate very badly, took my brand-new computer, an old laptop, and all my money. Of course the house mate lost a lot of his money too.
There in Sydney, we had no dog, no alarm, no metal door, no home phone, and in middle of a hot area in Marrickville.
wow.. a long comment from Binh giving us a brief glance on the burglaries at different places :) thanks.
when i stayed in Chatswood Syd, my belongings (laptop was the most expensive that time) were able to stay safe for a long 2-week, with me off to overseas, my room not locked (lock was not provided), and the house owner always forgot to lock the main door.
While in Student Village Toowoomba, I always had to ensure all the doors were locked before I went to bed. Thieves went to our neighbors but skipped us.
Not sure if you have been to Blacktown Syd.. there are really quite a lot of dark (till shining) people. And the order was not so good as well. But the burglar was a bit not so "professional".. according to the real experience i was told..
anyway, my first heartsore experience happened this year in my homecountry, Msia!
Your friend is in such a big deep s..t situation. No car to goto work and have to pay the car loan. How is she doing?
Student village became a target for thief. Nowadays, places near USQ also have few cases of burglary. It's not so secure there and they think those thieves are students too.
So sad.
she's looking for a new second-hand car at the moment. she had 2 sad posts yesterday:
a) Dealing with my pain
b) Goodbye my Kelisa
