Appreciation Note: Thanks JiunShan for mentioning about Couch Surfing in her blog. I signed up an account yesterday and got quite some useful info there, for my next trip.
It's time for a summary of all the posts I've written, as a result of backpacking for 1 month to China, Hong Kong and Macau during July-August 2007.
Prior to departure, when looking at the travel info, I already had a brief writing plan. However, life is full of surprises, and things do not always turn out as what we imagine. Therefore my plan is always subject to change :)
After coming back, I didn't have a concrete plan too. I just repeatedly browsing through the photos taken, reminiscing the special things happened along the trip, wrote out the thoughts and memories floating up and down in my mind, from time to time. As long as I start to write, I'll then get an idea how should I complete it.
There is a Chinese proverb saying "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" (千里之行,始于足下). It's applicable to my life of traveling and writing.
When I made a count today, there have been 55 posts in total, inclusive of this one!

Is this a good result?
I think writing is a good way to remember things, as well as to share experiences with the others. I traveled to Taiwan in Dec 1998, and I kept on writing, writing and writing, very well utilizing every seconds and minutes of mine, after each meal and on the bus. Nowadays, when I meet up with Taiwan trip tour mates, they could still remember I'm the girl who wrote a lot. This has been a typical description for me! :)
When I dig out the diary written during the 3-week trip, I'd realize that a lot of small stories have been forgotten. It's the same for the diary written during the China trip. It really helps me recall a lot of trivial yet funny stuff.

The 55 posts are hereby listed. The bracketed number indicates the total posts for that topic/place, which are accessible via the "Next" hyperlink from the main post.

Frankly, I'm quite satisfied with the trip, as well as my "post-trip write-up". At least I feel things have been completed nicely. However, I wish to highlight that I produce nothing about Suzhou (no post and photo album). We visited this place as well. We followed a tour at Suzhou, which was pretty fast-paced and rushed. So, if you are like me, who needs time to breed the true feeling on something, NEVER follow a tour.
So far, I've only submitted the article about Xitang to the Sisters magazine for publication. It's featured in the issue No.462. I checked the book store last week (5/1/2008), the issue was not in the market yet. But I can tell you very honestly, if you wish to read the full version, you should read from my blog. Due to page constraint (4 pages), I've to make it short.
Nonetheless, do you actually feel my writing is okay to read? I always wish to hear from others, in order to improve. One thing I'm aware is, I have to shoot better photos.

For some of the rest (definitely not all), I'm thinking to submit for other publications too, but prior to that I still need to do some editing. Just a bit lazy and too busy for that. You may think I'm money-minded, but I've to raise some moolah so that I'm qualified to plan for another trip. Trips are never-ending in my mind.

I live a simple life. I just wish to step outside the mundane "just-so-everyday" and give myself the space to experience something extraordinary. After all, it's the wonderful little moments which count.

Do you accept just a picture of Suzhou?

It doesn't matter how big or small you start off (or stay, for that matter). It doesn't matter if you are good or bad. The mere fact that you are, in fact, embracing your passions will make your life seem brighter, happier, and more fulfilling.

hi, u seems travel a lot. can i know wats ur job? so much free times to travel around. :) its a good blog for me to refer if i gonna travel somewhere.
coolku, i changed job already after the trip. i took off 1 month to travel last time. nothing comes for free. but it's worthwhile i'd say :)
nowonder, maybe i will consider it too when i raise enuf my money to do that:>
that should not be hard. it's quite cheap to go to China :)
i just LOVE that picture of Suzhou. Did you take that yourself? Impressive!
thanks twiggy, yes i took the photo. just lazy to put any watermark.
wow. you really went to all these places during summer huh? Cool man!
yeap. i don't copy and paste from other sites :)
no no no no no i dont mean it in the way you copy and paste.. its like.. WOW!
maybe not too many places.. but i just wrote too much about each place :)
A travel blog is so cool. I used to travel a lot, but nowadays whenever I travel, its on business trip.
I should really consider go for a vacation and write about it too.
in the past there was no digital camera, blog kinda thingy. my travels during my study time in aus were not documented also. but no point looking backward.. :)
Haan, I'm really proud of you. You write a lot, and you write fast. Everyday when I check your blog, I go "huh? another 6 posts?" You see, it's hard to catch up with you, but still I don't want to miss any of your posts. Love reading your articles. I hope one day you'll be able to publish a book (or many books) on your travelling experience. I'll be your first supporter! Keep up your good works.
kun, i'm kinda "disciplined", right? without that i might have stopped in the middle... i just set small targets, and accomplish one by one. start from small is always easier :)
book? even though i know we should dream and i do that too, i dare not have a ginormous (gigantic and enormous) dream. scared that the end result is huge disappointment.
if the day really comes, i'll surely give u a free copy. haha.. see when it happens..
now i finish writing about my china trip, a bit unsure what other things i can write here, before the next trip comes and ends. sometimes i'm thinking to make this blog an informational one, without putting in too much personal emotions.
but sometimes i just couldn't control myself too well. i did publish personal emotional posts.
sometimes i can't be very disciplined also :) after all, i'm just a human, an ordinary one.
True. When I was backpacking in Europe for close to 2 months during uni days, didn't have the money to buy digital camera (it was very expensive during that time) so a lot of things are undocumented. Luckily I bought some quality journal book and resorted to the old fashion way: pen and paper (and some color pencil for drawing) :)
wah, u draw!! i can't draw well. are u gonna share it? i believe those moments should be unforgettable to u?
Haan, you are growing much faster than me and I'm feeling jealous :D :D :D You've been posting very frequently and your page view rocks up. Keep up the good work. BTW, what do you think about my logo?
binh i started much earlier than you.. and we are almost the same now.. so who is growing faster? took at look at your new logo. i guess it's hard for me to forget your appearance although we do not meet often, and have not met for long :)
a good try. at least i'll never have the courage to put my photo as the logo here.
yea, forgot to mention... i know why the page view suddenly hikes... someone has just requested for the URL today. and via all the tracking, i know the person contributes a lot to today's page view, if i'm not mistaken :)
also i think because there are lotsa links in this latest post..
Wow... I need to take a lot of time to read all your China travel posts. :P Will go through them when free...
no worries jayce :D
