Back from Jakarta
It's my 3rd visit to Jakarta, for the similar purpose.
After the stages of RFI (Request for Information) and RFQ (Request for Quotation), we scored the highest in technical evaluation, finally got the deal and it's time for kickoff meeting.
On the day flying to Jakarta, I was actually quite sick. I went to the office but did nothing much. Head was heavy, and I took nap in office. Thanks boss for asking me to rest instead of doing work, as well as taking good care of me during the journey.
We flew to Jakarta, then headed to Anyer, a place that is about 100km away from Jakarta. Reached there in the midnight then directly bumped into the bed (I mean after taking shower but without doing any work). The meeting on the next day was considered smooth.
After the meeting, while others left Jakarta, I met up with my friend since primary school, Leng Leng. We went around the city together. Her colleague, Ryan, also joined us. (She has heaps of colleagues in Jakarta)
Eventually I had the chance to try the local food, mucked around with no work pressure, gained more "local experience", and photograph some ancient buildings around the old city (Kota).
I've got a lot of unprocessed photos and trips recently. Wish that I could have enough time to compile and share all ASAP.
By the way, since my last fly with MAS in June, this round, I found that they have downsized their meal served on the plane. Previously, I thought maybe the downsized meal applies to only small flight, but today I flew back by Airbus 330, it was still the same.
In the past, we had a big rectangle plate of food. Nowadays, only left the main course, fruit OR bun, cake, salad, biscuit and water. I'd say the old serving made people 100% full, and the new serving made up only 80%.
Furthermore, they are not using porcelain container (that you could feel the weight while holding) for the food anymore. Just plastic!
Perhaps it's a means to promote healthy diet? Or is this due to the price reduction of flight ticket to compete with Air Asia?
What do you think?

Was still doing the presentation slides in the morning of the meeting.

Leng Leng, Haan and Ryan did something quite stupid at the Monas.
The roadside food stalls and the pedestrians.
Felt very glad to snap photos at the old city area. Many thanks to Leng Leng for bringing me there.

No longer big firm plate. Now it's just a box.

I heard the stewardess asked a few passengers to fill in questionnaire about the new food. Will you say yes or no with the change?

Definitely cost cutting measures. Heck, I don't mind as long as the quality of food is not affected. But again, I'm not really one of those people who has a healthy appetite on board a plane. Maybe that 20% reduction was done based on surveys.
20% is just my estimation anyway :)
Hey,so fast you post up your blog d...Haha..Stupid thing at Monas and photo session at Kota. I'd got a chance to be there because of you too, glad to have you here. :)
need to be fast lo... really no time nowadays :)
i'd go for the cheap fares than food for short flights :)
same here.. when i need to pay by myself ^^
Globally, oil price is a big issue for airlines and many airlines have started using lighter cutlery. By all means they try their best not to carry so much stuff. Some even give thinner in-flight magazines. The less weight you carry, the more fuel you save.
As for the provision of light meal box, here is why.
