Learn to Dive | Back from Redang | Open Water Diver Certification | Scuba Diving | Loneliness | Shore Dives | Boat Dive | Sunrise at Redang | First Leisure Dive | Redang Bay | Redang Trip People

In April, I wrote a post titled "Swim and Dive", expressing my desperation due to my inability to swim, hence not advisable to dive. After that, I decided to take initiative to fulfill this dream, instead of doing nothing and just moaning.

Nowadays, I'm able to swim and dive, though not very expert. Thanks to everyone that has given me encouragement via any means. Originally, I thought I was able to go for certification trip in June, but finally it was delayed till July.

As I previously mentioned, the trip to Redang was not a normal one. It was not self-planned, and in this trip, I:
  1. bumped into the sea for the first time,
  2. got certified as a diver, and
  3. took photos underwater for the first time.

I signed up the course (PADI Open Water Diver) with Dolphin Sport Adventure, mainly because the confined water courses are held at the Panasonic Sports Complex, which is very near to my office.

The course inclusive of the certification trip (to Redang) costs me RM1400. The location of trip varies each month. The trip in June was at Tioman Island, and the fees are RM100 cheaper. We learned confined water dive at the swimming pool first, before proceeding to the island for open water dive.

The open water dive certification consists of 4 dives. Originally, it was 2 shore dives and 2 boat dives. Due to the increase of petrol price, it became 3 shore dives and 1 boat dive. Prior to that, a theory test is mandatory. I had some hard times studying but finally I scored 100%.

This round, there were 8 people all together taking open water diver certification. We didn't know each other for very long but we had nice time together at the Redang Island. It's been long since my last time going for trip by bus, and together with the unknown people having the same interests.

After accomplishing this to-do item, again I feel, whenever we have a dream, we must take actions to realize it.

I can only do snorkeling, haha. I'm afraid of going deep into the ocean.

honestly, i feel the snorkeling (with only mask and fin) is even harder than diving.. maybe i don't have enough practice on that ^^

I prefer snorkeling without the fin. Somehow that makes me clumsy. Will be going to KK next month. Hopefully I can spend some time snorkeling at Manukan Island.

Hmm... so now that you've got this down the bag in your to do list.

Whats next?

the fins help u move much easily, don't u think so? after this, maybe just look forward for more diving trips to fine-tune my skills. and there are still plenty of backpacking trips to here and there in my mind..

many plans but limited time, energy and $$..
