CIHAMPELAS!

This name is long... how would you pronounce it?
Ci-ham-pe-las???
Noooooooo... pronounce it as CHIAM-PLAS ("plus" in English for the latter portion).
When I asked where would the shuttle drop me and the staff answered "Jalan Chiam-plas", I was a bit unsure where is it.
* Jalan = Road

"Is that the street with lotsa statues of cartoon?" (I read this from Sam Yeap)
"Yes."
The road is commonly named as the Jeans Street.
Not only jeans, for sure... nowadays we talk about service differentiation.
I didn't shop. Shopping takes a lot of energy and time... to try, to choose, to decide...
It used to be a cheap and popular place to score some new jeans. For other clothing, it's better to visit the factory outlets located along the Jalan Riau.
The attraction of Jln Cihampelas lies in the huge statues of all-time favorite moviestars (though not real in person) that adorn the fronts of the shops.
The street is very busy, with traffic congestions all day round.
There are a lot of street vendors selling various types of things...
Kungfu fighters, but why SILKWORM (the Chinese word, 蚕)??
Tape (fermented cassava). You've gotta read it in the Indonesia/Malay way.. not the backup tape or video tape, ok?
Korek Api Jeans? Jeans that dig the fire??
Don't call the police! Those sitting high in the air are not real people!
Colourful slippers in cartoon shapes. About RM7 a pair.
Interested in getting an air gun?
The Amanda brownies kukus (steamed) is all around. Even the locals do not buy, coz doubting if it's genuine.
Bandung t-shirts.
In front of each shops selling jeans and other clothings, there must be a tailor preparing for any required amendment - Dr Jeans!

The figures that you have no idea what they are are Wolverine and Conan. :) I think the word "蚕" comes from the TV series "天蚕变".

CK, shame to say, i dunno about the cartoons u mention, hehe.. i only know like Popeye, Tom & Jerry, Thundercats.

hi. i am planning to go bandung on 30th aug. i would like to know if cihampelas street is worth going? otherwise i wld give this a skip and spend more time at factory outlets. thanks.
hi, that is quite a famous place. not bad to pay it a quick visit. but if your target is just shopping, the factory outlets at Jln Riau and Jln Dago should be the main focus.
for me, this street is nothing, since i'm not a shopping person. will post all about bandung by 30/8! written and scheduled for publication :)
i remember this place - visited long long ago haha. but yr pics make me wanna revisit again...
indonesia is quite charming in its special way :)
yea agree. actually now i've more destinations to target, such as Lombok, Yogjakarta, Borobudur, Bali etc. If can revisit Bandung and go to Kawah Putih, should be good!
