In Redang Island, we were attached to the Redang Bay Dive Center.

Mei Siew and I had met the Operations Manager, Fedrick, in Sunway, when both of us took the Open Water Diver paper test at the Dolphin Sport Adverture office.

Here are some experiences with the Redang Bay Dive Center and Resort.

Upon arrival, filling up forms was the first step.

This caught my attention... what else? Actually I already googled it before going...

The area for diving equipments. Everything has its place... used and full tanks are separated (this is common sense anyway).

Each of us had a specially allocated space based on the assigned number. Mine was No. 39.

My diving gears. The BCD, regulator, mask, snorkel were taken. There was only a wetsuit - the one with little red colour.

Nowadays, when I have negative feeling at work, I'd think of this sentence.

The gear setup area. We were ready to go.

We stayed at the Redang Bay Resort - the 4-person dormitory.

On the first day, there was no water supply during the dusk. I kept asking when the service would be resumed, till a staff brought me to her room to use her shower. Her room was located at the back - few minutes walk was required. However I appreciate the extremely strong shower there. It made me feel so comfortable (this is always my requirement while staying outside).

When I was almost done, only I realized I forgot to bring along my towel. I told her and asked whether we could get a towel from the room service office (they only allow you to exchange, not to get a new one). Finally she got a clean towel from her neighbour for me. I felt guilty to use other's thing and just return after coming out from the shower room. What I could do was just to say thanks, thanks and thanks.

Luckily, the same did not repeat again on the next day. I could take shower at "our shower room".

Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner were provided. Halal food was served. Delicious or not? I'd say, it's ok to make you full.

Having happy lunch together after tiring and energy-consuming dives. But don't eat too much if you are gonna dive later.

Before leaving, we took a photo together with Fedrick. (From left) Mei Siew, Haan, Fedrick and Goh.

The kind Fedrick, helped to carry Ben's and my luggages to the boat, without us asking. Thanks!

Ben, Mei Siew and Goh queued up to board the boat to Merang Jetty. The 3 days 2 nights fun time at the Redang Island had come to the end.

If you are interested to go diving at Redang, check out the rates and relevant information from the Redang Bay Dive Center website. The details are quite comprehensive.

After looking at Fedrick's email address, I now believe he is only 29. None believed so, all said he looks much older :)

Haan, what is BCD and wetsuit? Any reason why is it called 'wet'suit? And has this experience changed your life, just as you mentioned before??

By the way, I learned new things from your blog. Keep it up! :)

haha, study time. BCD stands for Bouyancy Control Device. it's like a jacket u wear, and a lot of diving gears are attached or harnessed to it. for example, the tank, the regulator, inflator etc. when u r on the surface, u inflate the BCD (made the air go into it) then u can float. when u want to go underwater, u deflate your BCD (let the air comes out), then u can sink to the bottom.

Wetsuit is to keep you warm in the water so you won't feel too cold and shiver. also, to protect u from underwater stuff such as the jelly fish. coz i'm not confident with my skin condition, so i chose a full length wetsuit. after wearing wetsuit, it also helps u to float to certain level. for more info, see here.

there is also drysuit, which keeps u dry underwater. to dive in drysuit, will need another course.

sure this diving exposes me to another world which i never explore into in the past 20+ years. i need to know about the sea, go into the sea, else i'm gonna miss 70% of the world, that consists of water :) agree with such saying?
