Daman-e-Koh, Islamabad
Going to Pakistan | Very Disappointed | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | ISB Office | Pakistani Cuisine | Shakar Parian | Daman-e-Koh | Pakistani | Jinnah Super Market | Leaving PKT
After Shakar Parian, Peter and I got lost for awhile before we could reach home :) Shahla, Peter and I had simple sandwich dinner together at home.
In the afternoon, we departed for Daman-e-Koh, a lookout point in the hills above E-6 with great views of the city on a clear day/night.
Driving uphill, you could escape the heat of the city for a bit of a breeze up high.
Here you go... we reached!
Seems like it's a good enough educational trip ^^
The lookout at Daman-e-Koh affords stunning views of Islamabad. It's amazing how green the city is as you look out over the ruler-straight roads and see the large areas of park and gardens.
Shahla and Peter both have the same target in life - to travel over the world, by no flight. I feel happy for them having a partner with the same dream. They are together, supporting each other all over the journey.
This is how the Islamabad city is divided into - all areas in squares, and named in alphabets and numbers. Pretty boring, right?
The vibrant city of Islamabad is regarded to be one of the most planned cities widely nestled in midst of a luxurious green surroundings in a peaceful atmosphere.
This is the Faisal Mosque - the most recognizable landmark of Islamabad, a very large mosque gifted by King Faisal of Saudi Arabia.
We just passed by the mosque on our way to Daman-e-Koh. This is much more a place of serious worship than a tourist site.
Some facts and figures about the capital city of Pakistan. Islamabad came to life only in 1963.
Apart from the fascinating glimpse of the city as well as the Rawal Lake, there is a well-maintained garden, with few types of animal. In fact, there are quite some wildlife on the Margalla Hills, such as the black partridge, the grey partridge and the common leopard.
We saw some peacocks...
... some ducks...
... and lot more humans who were having their unwind moments.
While walking towards the car park, there was a lady asking me where am I from. She must be curious seeing 2 westerns together with an Asian Chinese.
Similar to other tourism spots, there were stalls selling souvenirs, food and drinks to visitors.
As usual, I bought nothing, so as Shahla and Peter.
Our next destination was to go to market.
