Scuba diving has been in my to-do list, since the day I knew about the Great Barrier Reef. From May to July this year, I made this dream come true.

Otherwise, I'd miss 70% of the world consisting of ocean.


Two months might be a long period for others, coz people can actually do it in just 3-4 days on the island, inclusive of all skills and theory exam. It's okay for me to take longer time, as I was not a "water person". I didn't even know how to swim.

The 2 months have been hectic for me, but I told myself, nothing comes easily. Apart from the amount of money (RM1,300 - not inclusive of purchase of some gears), energy, time and effort are needed as well.

From time to time, I recorded the progress, coz this is a special experience in my life, and I wanted to share with others after I'm certified. The principle to share is - nothing cannot be done as long as you have the heart to do it! It seems like a very old saying however it's always so true.


If you have a dream today, go and do it! Just thinking will not make anything, and you will regret some day for not taking any action.

I'm now going to tell you about how a non-swimmer learns to dive...

5月15日 (Registration)

今天，我第一次真正接触潜水中心的负责人（之前的电邮沟通不算）。

放工后，就朝那个离公司不远的体育馆驶去。很近而已。这也是我选择这中心的主要原因。


和负责人谈了一些、拿了课本、缴了最初的三百元，我就回家了。

第一课，将在一星期后才开始。这也好，我有时间先读读理论的东西。

回家的途中，觉得很振奋。我正往自己的梦想迈步走去！

教练们说，他们以前也是不会游泳的。现在竟然能成为游泳和潜水教练。有了这样的例子，我想我一定也能做到，至少考到Open Water Diver这个执照，应该不是问题。

我要做的事，一定做得到！我不断如此催眠自己。

5月22日 (First Class)

约好了今天傍晚7：30在泳池那里见面，然后上第一堂的潜水课。

是个短短的1小时半。9点钟，人们陆续离开，我们还是最后离场的。

我第一次真正看到和摸到潜水的配备。

在水池的时间不多。第一个步骤是考考我的游泳技术。我说你不用考我了，我是根本不会那一种。之前我已经说过很多次了，他们以为我是说笑，还是我太谦虚？我是真的不会才说不会。

无论如何，有穿上蛙鞋在水池扮了一下不跳的青蛙，还有用浮板帮助我浮起来。


由于时间有限，后来就学怎么装置潜水配备了（不难！）。从水池上来，没有特别抹干身体，风令我冷到抖！看到教练任小小瘦瘦都没像我这样，真是惭愧！

不要怪我，那是5岁之后的第一次到游泳池。你想我怎样？

教练说，星期六的时间比较长，所以叫我星期六去比较好。

原本也是打算星期五放工后就回家的，最后还是说，星期六我会来。


教练说，我学不会游泳的话，不让我去考。虽然很多潜水的人都不会游泳，但他们不希望我是这样。教练的朋友不久前才因为浮潜出现意外，现在还在医院里。

老实说，我很相信自己学潜水没有问题的。至于游泳，我就不敢说得那么大声。
