Email During Holidays
Am now in Penang, enjoying my holidays here.
When deciding whether to bring along a laptop to check mails over the holiday, finally I brought along the work laptop instead of my personal laptop. I think I'd be too crazy if I bring both.
Feeling quite regret now. Without my personal laptop, besides being unable to edit my photos, am also kinda "seduced" (don't ask by what) to check the work email account. Someone did tell me, doing so is an act of spoiling my holiday. But I don't know why, am still doing it, everynight, using a dial-up connection.
Worse still, I would initiate a conversation with my fellow colleagues and talk about work stuff. What am I doing?
Honestly, it's really something unpleasant to check work email. Am really bored having to deal with the Sales personnel in my company. I'm uninterested to elaborate here how inconsiderate they are here at this moment.
I think if I have some other team mates who can share the workload, I won't feel so. Nowadays, the condition is, people always come to me when they have any request, though the product is not under my "supervision" or I totally have no experience doing that product.
However, I do not have any choice. When I asked my team mate if he's interested to take up the task (not all but maybe 1 or 2 products), he answered "no, I'm very busy", then I have gotta take it up. In fact, I'm also very busy.
Seems funny when a pre-sales (me) is hating dealing with Sales. It also depends... mostly on the attitude/personality of the person. I could just say, there is an addition of such a character recently.
The Sales always think we can get things at a fingertip. When they want, immediately we need to provide. When they are not so interested already, they will not tell you. The irritating thing is, when I could not provide them the info in the unreasonable timeframe, he would approach my team mate. Though my team mate provided him "something" which is not really useful for his sales effort, he'd use that to push me, by writing me email such as follows:
Really pissed. People simply entertain you with something useless then he appreciates. I had no time to prepare something useful for him them I was like SO BAD. What's the rationale behind? Why do I need to feel guilty when I was out of time to fulfull his request?
I only work for 2 weeks in Dec... it's good that I can have the chance to temporarily escape myself from these hassles. However next week I still need to go to company for 5 days.
Bored when thinking of this. Why did I check my email at the first place!? But it's too late to regret now.

I have got the xxx documents for Mxxxx from Dr Sxx Lxx, however, there is no suitable write-up on this topic, thus appreciate if you could send me one for the Cambodia project.

haha.. guess you are addicted to your emails. ermm.. may be "Am now in Penang, spending my holidays here." would be a better opening sentence. :-p
Dont sacrifice your holidays on that. No ppl will appreciate. Sometimes those creatures are really annoying and you only need to throw them few harsh words. Enjoy your days there and take care. Work-life balance, stop corporate emailing, Hahaha ;-)
elefen, i did set email auto-reply.. but didn't mention where i go... feel that is not necessary..
i was tempted to write "please do not call or email me, coz, i'm not my boss".. my boss is workaholic.. people all equalize his leaves to no leave. pity him. but he got this himself :)
kai, i was thinking to throw harsh word, but i still "sabar" first.. see when i can't stand anymore and say sth bad..
you kena 'AC Disease' liao la.
my collg lagi cham, they will aim my personal email address when i was on leave (-_-)" beh tahan
Next time you might just add another sentence something like this:
"I got no access to internet and will get back to any of your request when i resume to work on bla bla bla ..."
hehehe
sam, u always say like this T_T
kai, that is too much lar.. too crazy..
andrew, will say so during next trip, coz that is the truth. this time i just put "limited access" :)
Putting auto-reply is good enough. And don't check emails. When I'm off, I'm totally off from all sorts of news. I don't even read papers. I'm drown in news everyday so when I'm off, I really shut all the doors and windows.
