Provence Bakery & Cafe

Actually I'm not sure since when, I become so into bakeries.

I used to imagine that I own a bakery shop, and I'm so happy seeing the beautiful cakes and breads when I visit the shop everyday. During the time in Australia, Danny knew me well that whenever we passed by a bakery shop, I must walk in to take a look. Sometimes I'd come out with something in my hand.

When I just arrived at Australia and stayed in hostel, I used to feel they rarely served rice and noodle. Who knows, after almost a year, I had become a "no rice but just bread" person, till today.

Nowadays, I could become so excited when talking about Secret Recipe cakes together with my colleagues such as Shin Yee and Andrew. This is what we always say - PEOPLE CHANGE.

Therefore, when I was in Singapore, Wyng brought me to Provence, a place that serves Japanese bakeries.

This is located at Holland Village. Full address is 17A Lorong Liput Holland Village, Singapore 277731.

According to Wyng, it's truly crowded during weekend. However, we visited it on Friday (2 Jan 2009).

People were busy selecting among the wide varieties.

We didn't just take away. Since we were in holiday and I finally visited Singapore again after 14 years, for sure we would sit down and relax. So, we chose a good seat and ordered our brunch.

Here you go... 1 Special Mix set (Cappuccino + sandwich) and a cup of tea.

A small bowl of salad was included in the set.

Sandwich.. do you feel hungry now? :)

There are definitely a lot of types of bakeries available. Croissant alone, there are several varieties. This recalled my time in Netherlands... Every morning, I was so headache coz not knowing what to choose... I was like... love all of them!!

Is the price okay?

If you earn SGD and spend in the same currency, should be no problem. If you convert the price into RM, it's a bit... dear...

Different kinds of croissant.

Before finishing our first round of order (see, the one with sausage was not eaten yet), we got our second round - one milk bun.

"Soft on the outside, softer on the inside. The smooth, creamy and milky filling will take your breath away."

This is tuna sandwich, ordered by our friend.

Look from another perspective :P

We waited till 12pm for the third round!!! The wassants were out!!

There are milk and chocolate wassants. Each costs SGD 60 cents. One pack is 6 dollars.

Dine-in plus take away!

A quick glance of the shop.

Even when going to the washroom, I was also bombarded by the irresistible good smell of bakeries. It was just fun staying in the shop.

This is how the bakeries are displayed for customers' selection.

Wide varieties of sandwich too.

I was so tempted to try everything, but really, not able to do that. Next visit, when?

To date, I still can't understand why we eastern tends to see "bread = poor / pity".

"Eating bread today ah, why so cham?" this is what people always ask me.

Before leaving Singapore, I actually bought some chocolate croissants and wassants back to Malaysia. RM24 (SGD 10) for these... could be crazy, but I really enjoyed the delicious bakeries.

They have another outlet at West Coast Plaza, Petit Provence, outside the mall. Serves toast/hot sandwiches and cafe style as well.
