Baguette

After writing about the various food in Vietnam, I feel tempted to write about Baguette, something that I like a lot too, and it appears to be very prevalent around Vietnam.

That's why, when I saw the many stalls all around Vietnam selling Baguette, I was always pretty excited :)

There are a lot near the roads. Some are covered, some are not.

The stalls might be just side-by-side.

At the bus stand as well.

Baguettes in small baskets...

A lot more in the big basket!!

Before I went to Australia for further studies, I was not really fond of eating bread too. But a few years there have changed me dramatically.

I become someone who lives on bread more than rice. Honestly, there are more varieties of bread in Australia and they taste really nice.

I admit I've some kinda weird eating habit. That day, when my colleague saw me dealing with my wholemeal bread at the pantry, he asked me, are you going to eat your bread with soy sauce? I was a bit stunned.

Though I like to have soy sauce while eating bee hoon, that does not mean I apply the same when eating bread. At most, I eat bread with chili or tomato sauce only :P hehe

Not only during the day. You can get baguette everywhere too at night. How much dust is there on the bread?

Oh the seller falls asleep!! Still, the traffic is busy.

Ho Chi Minh city was the last part of Vietnam I stepped on, before proceeding to Cambodia.

Baguette seller at the Ben Tahn market. I guess those sold here should be much cleaner.

The ingredients she put inside.

In the morning which we had to take bus to Cambodia, we still could stop myself from buying baguette. Yes, it's 6,000 VND (appx USD0.35 or RM1.30) each.

Waawwwwwwwwwww.....

Ooooooooooh nooooooo ~~~~~~

Another nearby stall was frequented by western tourists. Photo taken at Pham Ngu Lao area.

My last baguette in Vietnam in 2008.

After we reached Cambodia (to be exact, Siem Reap), we could not find nice baguette.

Someone told us she tasted very nice baguette in Siem Reap before, but, really, we could not find!!! Those we tried were so bloody hard :(

So disappointed...........

We saw this shop, and walked in. Yeah, that was our last day in Siem Reap before flying to Singapore.

Oh, they served do-it-yourself (DIY) version.

What's inside the bread?

This was the one I made.

Added some sauce before eating.

Still... I don't know why I like bread so much... I'm also unsure if I'll love it forever. If not, when is the time I'd change???

I really have no idea.

槟岛人, the word looks like bakutteh only, doesn't sound like bakkutteh at all. i'll pronounce it for u when we meet.

Could it be because Vietnam is a former colony of France that it has baguette everywhere in the city? Anyway, it was eye-opening seeing how they sell baguette.
