Northern Thai Posts Summary
I call it a latecomer.
Because this was a very old trip, back in January 2008. After I wrote the posts, I did not make a post summarizing all the related articles.
Not sure since when, I started to have a thought in mind, telling myself that "I WANT TO GO CHIANG MAI". It could be since the 18th Southeast Asian Games, which were held in Chiang Mai in the year 1995.

1995 could sound a little too early, I was only 13 years old :P If memory serves me right, at that time, the mass media said that Chiang Mai is a cooling yet beautiful place.
The past stories are not important. The key is, eventually I made a move to this place. I went there alone for a week. The final journey was also quite different from my plan prior to departure.
Anyway, this is normal for every trip.

The main difference of this trip with the others, is that I went to cybercafe to update my blog everyday. The posts were titled "On the Road":
The "On the Road" series come with no photos, but I found that most people tend to keep an eye on the trip progress :) It's also a way to let my mum know from time to time, that I was alright.
Before I began the exploration of Northern Thailand, I did something special with Air Asia. I made a request to visit the Air Asia Cockpit by writing to the Captain. As a result of the visit, I wrote a travelogue and it was then published in the Air Asia in-flight magazine, Travel3Sixty.
As a result of that, I was given 2 RM50 free vouchers. It was then used to purchase a KL-Hanoi flight ticket for my friend, Wyng.
The related posts are as follows:
Upon arrival, I also failed to stay at the guesthouse I booked via email. The boss said, I should have written to him again 2-3 days before I left for Chiang Mai, so that he knew I was serious. What to do... that was the GREAT IMPRESSION Malaysians had created to others...
Luckily, the boss recommended me to his friend's place. I spent a few days in Chiang Mai, then went north to Chiang Rai, and some places nearby the border. Before flying back to KL, I spent another few days in Chiang Mai again.

Something worth to mention, was about my visit to Phayao, a place which you can't find from the Lonely Planet or normal travel guides. When I looked for info from the CouchSurfing website, some local CSer in Chiang Mai told me about this great place. Therefore I decided to give it a go.
It was pretty scary upon my arrival, coz most people do not understand English, and it was not a very touristy destination. Luckily my preparation was good enough, by having some printed Phayao maps from online sources.
My Phayao-related posts are as follows:
Apart from the above, I also wrote about the transports and hill tribes.

Hill Tribes:
People say, it's better late than never. Therefore, I wish you do not mind this latecomer :)
When I read back the posts, I found that the readers at that time were a little different. I already lost quite a number of them now, due to not keeping in touch via blog-hopping and leaving comments to them.

I could share with you some useful links I read when planning for my trip too.

Let's see.. my English is not good :)
auntie, the free voucher you got was not given by AirAsia; it's from me lar ;)
sorry sorry.. i think i made a mistake...
this voucher is from u, and AA gave me 2 RM50 vouchers, which I used to buy a KL-Hanoi ticket for my friend...
I will change, will change!!! Sorry KUN!!
haha, no need say sorry lar. You went through so many posts to write this summary, so maybe your memory was "mixed up", hehe~
By the way, I think I should also write a posts summary like this the next time I write about travelling. It's good to organise all posts into one.
amended!! actually making a summary post is also better for myself to look for the posts :)
