Off to Bundaberg | Scuba Diving Courses in Bundaberg | SSI Open Water Certification in Bundaberg | Met Lady Musgrave | Lady Musgrave Cruise | Town of 1770 | Few Days in Bundaberg

A lot of times, things that you expect to happen, does not happen. On the contrary, some other things come to you at your least expectation.

Still remember that I used to mention what inspired me to learn scuba-diving? Yes, just 3 words: Great Barrier Reef. This year, my original plan was to go Sipadan in Oct, but eventually it was not realized coz I was in NZ that time.

I just dived at the Lady Musgrave Island, which is part of the south Great Barrier Reef. I've been bored in Bundaberg for a few days, whilst waiting for Boss to finish his SSI Open Water Certification.

Today, the next day after he completed his course, we drove 128km to the Town of 1770, to go to the Lady Musgrave Island for diving. The entire trip took us 15.5 hours. We departed from Bundaberg at 6am and reached back at around 9:30pm.

His diving instructor, Dagmar, was one of the dive guides today. Another divemaster is a very handsome guy, Ed. Dagmar was in charge of an Advanced Open Water student, and the people doing Introductory Dive. Therefore, we followed Ed for both of the dives.

Reaching the Lady Musgrave Island in excitement.

The cruise to the Lady Musgrave Island started at 8am, and we reached at 9:30am. It was an enjoyable journey as we sat outside and it was a very exciting experience with strong waves. We claimed that as the "first class seat". Could occasionally see jumping dolphins too!

The dive in the morning was a drift dive on the outer reef wall in approximately 16 meters of water. Before leaving the boat into the water, I was a bit dizzy due to the moving boat. This never happened before but it did today! After the dive, when I just got up to the boat, I felt dizzy again on the boat. After putting down my gears, I was there ready to throw up, but nothing came out. Boss said I looked pale.

Took a simple lunch after we got back to the pontoon. It's of buffet style but we did not eat too much.

On the boat, before the first dive. Still could smile.
I like to float and relax like this at the surface after finishing a dive.

The second dive took place at the Reef Haven in the protected waters of the Lagoon. It started with fish feeding. Ed and 4 divers hold a bottle of fish food together. When the bottle was opened, the fishes flocked to get food. It was nice as a lot of fishes came and they touched my hand :)

Something I did not expect was... throughout the 2 dives, I failed to see any turtle and sting ray, though there were a lot of different and beautiful fishes.

Overall, it's a pleasant trip, costing us AUD 195 each (cruise, lunch, afternoon tea, 2 dives). After we were sent back to the Town of 1770, we explored the town a little and had dinner before heading back to Bundaberg.

I was the one driving back at night. For the first time, the police checked my driving license and asked me for a breathe test (result was zero, coz I didn't drink beer today). Luckily I didn't drive very fast as the road is very dark.

Nearby Bundaberg, we can always see police. Perhaps that's coz Bundaberg is somewhere that produces the Bundaberg Rum :)

Tomorrow we will leave back for Toowoomba. Very tired today to process photos. So, will share more photos about Lady Musgrave Island later. Till then.
